Craving an authentic Italy style pizza (72 hours!), there's no where better than Ill Birrificio Pizzeria on Burwood Road (near corner of Warrigal road and same side as the IGA). This is a fabulous, quaint, yet sometimes super busy dining venue (also has take away). Cannot recommend their highly pizza as they make the BEST pizza, most delicious salads, and pasta ever. The chefs and service personnel are wonderful. Even when busy, they go out of their way to make sure you get good service and the food is excellent, the type of authentic tasty Italian food and pizza you can rarely find these days. Thin crust pizza with the perfect crust! You'll love their food and the environment is very quaint/pizza cafe style so the environment is casual but comfortable. Authentic! ~ Connie M

Honestly got no complaints. We only ordered the one gluten free pizza to share and that was pretty good! Wouldn't have known it was gluten free if my friend hadn't told me, which is a big plus I think! What I was super Super impressed by was the impeccable service, they really go over and above! I was very well looked after from the moment I stepped into the restaurant to the moment we left. Their caring and attentive service really gave me the impression that they genuinely appreciated and valued their customers, was a wonderful atmosphere to dine in. My friend was running late and the waitress brought me some olives to enjoy while I waited - I actually don't usually eat olives but it was such a nice gesture I had a few anyway, and quite enjoyed it lol 😅 Would definitely come back and try some more pizza and pasta. This little gem of a pizzeria is the real deal. As a fussy Italian and former pizzaiolo in my previous work life , and also being a very fussy eater who is very careful and selective of where i choose to eat. In saying this, tonight my partner and I had an awesome dining experience at il Birrificio. It was exceptional in terms of the quality of the pizza that was coming out of the oven This pizza dough was very good, not doughy, it was light and with great quality ingredients . The service from the waiting staff was very friendly and excellent. All i can say is these guys would give those other well known pizzerias a run for their money in terms of quality and authenticity. A big grazie to you Santos and your team, there is the rest and there is the best. Il Birrificio as far as I’m concerned is one of the best. Amazing authentic Italian food which was served with such friendliness and warmth that it left such a great impression we reserved another dinner before we left! All the staff were so accomodating and made us feel like family. Santos’ delicious recipes and Antonio’s masterful motions were like a well oiled machine and they did not disappoint! I would highly recommend getting at least one tomato base and white sauce base pizza but you really can’t go wrong with any of the options. And of course, their desserts were phenomenal! ~ Victor C

Il Birrificio Pizzeria serves some of the most authentic pizza you’ll find outside of Italy. The wood-fired base is perfectly baked with a light, airy crust and just the right char, exactly like what you’d expect in Italy. Ingredients taste fresh and well balanced, letting the flavours speak for themselves without being heavy. It’s clear a lot of care goes into the dough and baking process. Place went under new management a few months ago and it is AMAZING !!! Staff are excellent, food was incredible, music and atmosphere were perfect and dining in or takeaway the food quality never differs from perfect !! Came with some friends a month or so ago and haven’t stopped since!! Definitely worth checking out again if you’ve been here more than a couple of months ago to experience the new and improved IL Birrificio!!! ~ Rachael P

Happy to report this great pizzeria ‘is back’!!!! Under new ownership - the pizzas are first class and pasta too! Service was excellent and the owner who is a very experienced chef, well travelled and from Nepal was super friendly. It’s clear the new leadership takes real pride in the delivery of top class food. This place is amazing. The pizzas are fresh and to die for (the gluten free base so good i think we checked with the waiter twice to make sure it was really gluten free!), the gnocchi is so soft and fluffy (and gluten free!), the calamari entree was the most tender calamari ive ever had, and it came out so fresh and hot (and you guessed it, gluten free!). To top it off, Anthony the waiter was a gem! We will one hundred percent be back. :) ~ Day F

Incredible authentic woodfire pizza! Their in-house brick oven cooks pizzas hot and fast leaving a crispy base, yet a puffy and soft dough. The flavour imparted from the wood gives it a unique smokiness. The high temperatures cook the high quality toppings to perfection. This was our first booking at this amazing restaurant & it won’t be our last! Friendly staff, excellent menu options AND the most delicious pizzas & homemade lasagnes. We had a great dinner here on a Friday night. We’re were a big group so we got the big table in the back room by ourselves which was perfect. Service was great. Food was yummy and the staff were flexible and accommodating when we arrived early and with a different number of people to our reservation. Only slight negative was that it’s pretty loud but it suited our group. ~ Erika H

Visited for dinner and absolutely loved it! The truffle arancini were crispy and rich, and the chicken scaloppine was cooked perfectly and served with a divine gravy! The cocktails were delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. We also loved watching them make the pizzas. Beautiful last minute booking dinner for two, got garlic focaccia (with cheese), and the rigatone that was on the specials board, along with a long black. Coffee was delightful and so was the food. Very courteous and sweet staff, also very cool seeing the chef create and cook the pizzas right in front of you.. Will be going back again for the fourth time and finally try nutella pizza! ~ Banta C

Very good experience here, I was ordering half and half pizza, which they dont have it in the menu, but they still made my order. And taste really amazing!!! I love it. This is how to run a bussiness, you make it happened for your custumers, not by saying “ohh sorry we dont have it in the menu” I appreciate it so much guys!!! We came to Il Birrificio on a rainy Monday night not expecting much. The warmed olives were delicious to start and not long after our mains arrived. The pizza was magnificent, 72 hours makes all the difference. The base was spectacular and the toppings fresh. Our fettuccine was perfectly cooked and so too was the seafood. We will be returning to this little gem of a restaurant soon...very soon. ~ Tiaan S

Delicious! We just ate pizza there and we couldn't be more satisfied. I'm Italian and the pizza I ate to Il Birrificio really remind me the pizza in my home town. I recommend it if you want to taste the authentic Italian flavours. The waitress was really nice. My friend forgot his backpack there and she was trying to contact us. Wood fired hidden gem of camberwell . The pizza crust is balanced , crispy and the toppings were generous and of great quality yet light and not heavy, I sat near the kitchen and believe me I was salivating for all the pizzas including the ones I did not order . The prosciutto in my mushroom pizza melts in the mouth , and my husbands meatball pizza is so tasty . I will return . ~ Kazz Y

One of the best Italian pizza i ever had in melbourne. Wood fired and live cooking makes pizza more delicious and push our hunger to another level. I ll definitely go back to eat that pizza again. Il Birrifico is one of our fave local restaurants! Last night was no different! We ordered the Gamberi pizza and the creamy fettuccini chicken, mushroom pasta and the donuts and it was DIVINE!! So glad you are so close to our house! The best part about it is when we have visitors and don't feel like cooking, we introduce them to you guys and they love it too! We have visited a couple of times now. Our order has always been taken promptly and within the limits of a busy cafe the food has arrived reasonably quickly. Nice to have a clear view of action at the wood fired pizza oven from most tables. We've enjoyed all the pizzas we've eaten there and will be back. ~ Paul

Really delicious Italian fare. Friendly staff and food came out quickly. Loved the pastas (pictured are the lamb ragu gnocchi and the seafood spaghetti). Prawn pizza could have been a bit more crispy but otherwise a really lovely meal. Can get a little bit noisy if there are lots of groups. However highly recommend for the delicious food!! ~ Alexandria

Not only is the pizza and pasta consistently delicious but the service was also wonderful. They forgot to include a pizza in one of my orders and proceeded to call me up and had a staff member quickly send it with an extra treat thrown in. We regularly get pizza from this restaurant and love this place. Many thanks, guys! ~ Tanya
